Stratton Gaines was born in Texas. From a young age, he has been greatly fascinated with cultures from around the world and has constantly sought to expand his horizons by interacting with and learning from people of all backgrounds. From a young age he began teaching himself Japanese before coming under the professorship of fantastic instructors at Sam Houston State University and the University of Texas. With their encouragement and the support of his family he has participated in extensive cultural exchange in the form of study abroad, scholarship, and hosting exchange students from multiple countries.
